Passports and Visas
 Every person entering Japan must have a valid passport. In addition, some nationalities require a visa . Please be aware that in some cases it takes more than one month to obtain a visa. For details, please inquire at your nearest Japanese Embassy or Consulate.

Currency Exchange
 You may use credit cards in hotels, most stores and restaurants. In some stores and restaurants, however, only Japanese yen is available. You can exchange money at the airport, foreign exchange banks, and other authorized exchanges upon presentation of your passport


Insurance
 Participants are advised to provide their own personal insurance as the organizing committee will not assume responsibility for accidents, sickness, theft or property damage


Electrical Appliances
 Electrical appliances operate on 100 volts. The frequency is 60 Hz in western Japan including Osaka


Tipping
 There is no custom of tipping in Japan. Instead, in some restaurants, bars and hotels, a 10% service charge is added to your bill.

Smoking
 
No smoking within Toray Human Development Resources Center, except“Smoking Room”on the 4th floor.

Internet
 
In Toray Human Development Resources Center, no equipped computer is available. However, you can freely connect your own computer to the internet through ADSL adapters at Copy Corner on the 2nd and 4th floors. In total 20 termini will be available at the same time. We will give you an instruction for how to connect on your registration.

Fax and telephone
 
In Toray Human Development Resources Center, a facsimile is available at the conference desk on the 2nd floor. As we have already informed you, you cannot use a telephone in your room. Please use a public phone for both domestic and international calls on the first floor. For using it, a telephone card or some coins are necessary and ask us at the conference desk on the 2nd floor.

Weather
 
The weather in August is very hot and humid. It sometimes rains, but it is not so heavy, except that a typhoon happens to come accidentally. Generally you do not have to care about it. The temperature outside will be over 30oC in the daytime, and about 25oC in the nighttime. However, all the rooms for accommodations and conference activities are air-conditioned.
